Founded in 1956, Mar Theophilus Training College has a rich history as an affiliate of the University of Kerala.
Established on Bethany Hills, the college is a product of the visionary leadership of the late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios of Trivandrum. It stands as one of several Malankara Catholic colleges managed by the Trivandrum Metropolitan Archbishop, reflecting the Indian Constitution's commitment to minority rights.
Focused on teacher education, the college offers a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree program. Students can choose from various specializations including English, Malayalam, Mathematics, Natural Science, Physical Science, and Social Science. The college boasts facilities that meet all National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines. These include cutting-edge computer labs, psychology labs, an education technology lab, science labs, a work experience lab, and a language lab. Notably, the NCTE has acknowledged the college's strong infrastructure and academic achievements.
Further expanding its offerings, the college introduced a Master of Education (M.Ed) program in 2005. A team of experienced educators who have honed their teaching skills over time. The faculty are qualified educators with commitment to Teacher Education. With a range of B.Ed. specializations offered, the faculty covers a broad spectrum of educational expertise and passionate about preparing future educators.Guided by the motto "Dominus Mea Illuminatio" (God is my light), Mar Theophilus Training College continues to thrive with dedication and dynamism.
