Popular Science Centre

The Mar Theophilus Training College was established in 1956 with the main objective of developing teachers of academic excellence, professional ability and social commitment both nationally and globally.

The Popular Science Center, a training extension center, was inaugurated on April 4, 2016 by the Dr. Suresh Das, Former Executive Vice President, KSCSTE & Emeritus Professor (Chemistry), IISER, Thiruvananthapuram. Since its launch, the center still aims to enhance students' skills, especially in the areas of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

 

One of the main objectives of the center is to organize summer vacation workshops for students and teachers. Most of the courses are conducted online and the infrastructure required to provide offline training is already established at the college.

 

 

Currently, Principal Dr. K.Y. Benedict is the patron and Dr.Neena Thomas is the co-ordinator and Mr.Rakesh Sharma is the convener of the program. The center collaborated with Novotech Robo International in the early days which later allied with multiple agencies for each course. Recently in collaboration with STEM Robotics Academy International, courses on Robotics, Coding, and Artificial Intelligence are scheduled to begin soon.

2020 : Train the Teachers (31st October 2020)

2021 : Coding, Robotics Artificial Intelligence (Scheduled)
